I received an email today from sainsburys with all their vegan products on. One of the things was a tin of banana blossom. When I looked it up it’s seems it’s what’s used for Vegan “fish and chips” has anyone had banana blossom? What does it taste like and what did you use it for?
A friend of mine says it’s really nice! (Apparently Aldi are doing a new vegan tuna called tuno - a few people have said it’s the worst thing they’ve ever tried despite the good reviews...just so you don’t waste your money if tempted to try it 👍🙂).
Thank you for the warning on the tuno I'll give that one a wide berth.😉 To be honest I prefer things that are naturally vegan i.e. beans and not things that pretend to be meat or fish. Give me a chickpea curry any day.😉😋
Same here. I used to try new things to be supportive but now there is so much. I’m not keen on substitutes and it’s a slippery slope. Chickpea, mayo and caper sandwich tastes like tuna (well sort of) and I love it 🌱🙂( ps my son has gone vegetarian how good is that! A step in the right direction! 😁🌱).
It does tend to be used as a fish substitute, I have never tried it but I did see the meal next to me which was fish n chips made with banana blossom and it look like the real thing.
