I believe that I have MCAS and hypermobility syndrome, and I am trying to get both diagnosed. So far, I've not had much luck. I had a reaction the other day which left me with a hoarse voice, difficultly swallowing, sudden tinnitus, dizziness and mild tachycardia. I ended up not seeing anyone because work was panicking about me leaving as I'm the only one there who knows full job currently. I spoke to a GP at my surgery next day though and asked for Epipens which I was given. I also asked if I could request a serum tryptase test and he said he didn't think that they could arrange that and it would be up to the allergy clinic. Except I've looked at the two closest immunology departments, Leeds and Manchester and both say they do not do the investigations for MCAS or Masocytosis and can only be referred once I have a diagnosis. So how do I get a diagnosis without the serum tryptase? I can't avoid to pay for the test privately.
