This is mostly directed at the admins but was wondering if anyone knows a dermatologist/ practice specialising in UP who is based south of London and preferably in Dorset? (I live in Bournemouth)
I have been waiting for an NHS appointment for ages and now just want to see someone privately.
I was seen a few years ago and they confirmed UP with no systemic symptoms at the time.
I want to get checked up as although I’m healthy, I get these tiredness/grotty feeling bouts which I’m putting down to histamine release in foods.
Be damned if I’m giving up all the foods that aive always been fine with eating though!!
Thanks

Hello! I've been searching for a doctor for histamine related symptoms for over 8 years! I've seen 5 consultants privately and 8 GP's - only one consultant suspected histamine related connection, which eventually lead me to the Masto Society. I recently read one fellow sufferers experience who had found a doctor in London who has an interest in this problem. He has a NHS clinic at Guys Hospital and a private clinic in Harley Street. His name is Dr Clive E Grattan. I've got a NHS appointment to see him in September. The waiting list appears to be about 3 months. Like you I was going to see him privately, until I realised that there are numerous tests that are needed, which will all cost a great deal. One of the tests is a blood test to check Tryptase level in the blood. Guys is one of only a handful of hospitals in the country who conduct this test. I think my problem has become quite advanced, so I'm pretty worried. My husband and I live in Eastbourne, so it will be worth the journey to London to speak with someone knowledgeable about this subject.
I can understand how you feel about not wanting to stop eating the foods that cause you problems, but it appears that the more high histamine foods eaten increase the level of histamine being released which increase symptoms - including the tiredness. I've found a few books on line with various menu suggestions, and a nutritionist in Australia who has the problem herself and can download a list of foods with histamine values. Because my symptoms have got worse, I have a very limited diet, and pay for it if I deviate. It is worth making the effort to adjust to it all - but I am so terribly fed up with it! Just hanging on for September! Best of luck! June - Eastbourne.
Sorry to butt in here but I am unsure what you mean by few hospitals doing tryptase levels. I worked in A&E in various departments all over the country and a Tryptase level is regularly taken with patients presenting with allergic reactions and as a patient with AI disease my Tryptase levels are often monitored in clinic.
Hi, read your post "NHS clinic at Guys Hospital -dr.Clive E Grattan. I have been suffering for a few years with what seemed like MCAS . My symptoms got much more worse. I'm really struggling to find a MAST cells doctor.
Would appreciate if you could share info how to contact gr.Grattan. To get an appointment do I need a GP referral?
I have had Trytase done in different places in England with no bother. All hospital staff have been wonderful. I started at Guys but have lived all over. I currently live in Devon and work in Dorset. The Eden Unit in Derriford in Plymouth are amazing and are so specialist. Bristol would be the other South West one. I guess depends how East or West in Dorset you are. I just asked my GP to refer me to the nearest specialist unit.
