I originally thought my T was triggered by ear wax extraction, however I'm now thinking it may be the menopause. Does anyone have any insight on this?
I tried HRT a couple of years ago but as it had no impact on my life, I came off it. I'm now debating whether I should go back on HRT as some T articles state it can help stop T and then I've read others and it states it can make it worse. My T started about a year ago.
My T is weird - it disappeared for a couple of months and then returned after a flight (and I don't want to be put off flying) ... It's 90% of the time in my left ear and comes and goes in my right ear.
Any feedback is appreciated.

your T might have been triggered by something - my personal belief is that almost anything and indeed nothing starts Mr T on his dreadful visits. I can think of nothing that started mine, in my late teens. I was fortunate enough to regard it as part of the trials and tribulations that teenage girls in the sixties had, so mostly ignore it. It’s vaguely annoying, but there’s much worse in life.
It’s exacerbated by coach, long car or airplane trips - the noise masks the T so my poor primitive brain ramps up the sounds once I’m home and relaxed.
I had one session of HRT in my early fifties then another from late fifties to mid sixties. Did not affect T. I had hormonal changes because of breast cancer and again this didn’t affect T.
Hi Archie I did read that Tinnitus can be triggered by the drop in oestrogen and progesterone during Menopause and particularly oestrogen which drops off a cliff at that time. I was never on HRT as my GP wouldn't prescribe it, so I can't comment on that aspect.
I tried hrt again about a year ago made my tinnitus much worse, don’t know of it was the estrogen or progesterone as doctor wouldn’t let me try one without the other for a few weeks even though i told her i needed to try them seperately because of previous problems with other medications.
