Mortar and Pestle time - Ginkgo dose regime

Taking Ginkgo daily has proved to be a disappointment. No benefit achieved. I'm going back to my tried and tested dosing with Ginkgo.

How: crushed tablet, for absorbing via the mouth

How much: Day 1 - 3 x 30mg Ginkgo spread over (with crushed tablets that is 62mg in weight. 30mg Ginkgo and 32mg binding agent x 3)

When: Day 1 the dose

Day 2: Nothing

Day 3: Nothing

Day 4: Nothing or Repeat from Day 1

Effect: For me, reduced tinnitus down to silence at times happening sometime on Day 2 or Day 3 or both. I must add that on dose day, the tinnitus is slightly higher than normal. Something is going on, and that is reassuring more than annoying.

Speculation on how Ginkgo works: It could be that Ginkgo needs to disappear from our system to allow the next dose to be 'noticed'. If that is how the raw leaf works then I accept it. I'm no longer going to force the matter. So, this is (probably) my last Mortar and Pestle update. There being no further ground to go with it.

I hope you too can get some relief, Aesop, and you can post on this site about it.

I must say I find it significant that what I've achieved happens on such a small dose, and not frequent with it. I put this down to nature's provision of chewing on maybe just one leaf when needed. I hope to find out at some stage how much a single leaf weighs. It can't be much. Perhaps 100mg.

Hello Ray! I have taken my second dose according to your regime . The only thing I am doing a bit differently is I take a 120mg powder capsule mixed in water . I may have experienced a bit of relief on day 3 its hard to say but the ringing has not gotten any worse . I am cautiously optimistic . Thank you for posting your experience

Sincerely

Aesop

I found that, Aesop. The reduction in intensity sometimes not that obvious to start with. But it was sufficiently there when I first used Ginkgo to persevere with it.

My last dose day was Saturday. I awoke Sunday morning and the tinnitus just wasn't there. It did come back by midday. This is the second time that has happened since I've been absorbing Ginkgo in the mouth. I've posted the first time saying what a waste in one respect. I need that silence, all of it, when I'm conscious. So, the next dose day will start last thing at night. I've now reached the age where when it comes to nocturnal visits to the lavatory it's not a question of if but what time. The middle dose will now be taken in the small hours and the last on waking.

I might add that I expect further lessening from the dose maybe today or tomorrow or both. Next dose will commence in the evening of Wednesday, 31st July. By which time I would expect the Ginkgo has left my system and the next can be noticed.

Hi Ray200. Can I ask are these tablets just what you can get from Holland and Barrett?

Yes. Good place Holland & Barrett. At least 2 brands sold there. I do like to hold, read and inspect what I'm out to buy, rather than on line

Thanks. Any particular one you'd recommend?

My suspicion is they all come out of the same laboratory. Just different tablet moulds to differentiate.

Not what you're looking for?
