Two treatments Part 2

Part one (I posted this earlier and received great feedback)

I have had spontaneous bilateral tinnitus for five weeks. Continuous high ringing 😢

My physician put me on Presnisone for five days which almost completely resolved my tinnitus. It came back on day 5.

My physician then put me on beta histamine. It also almost completely resolved my tinnitus until day 7 when it came back.

Part two (this is how things are progressing)

I came off the Betahistimine after three very loud days of tinnitus. About four hours after my last dose the tinnitus completely went away. It was completely quiet for 30 hours. I was feeling so good. But through the following night it came back….after 30 hours!

I am stumped. I do think that the advice re: inflammation is on the right track. I just don’t know if I should go back on the betahistamine, look at natural inflammation products, ask about further prescription anti inflammatories? What would you do? Thank you all! I appreciate everyone.

Hi Mcspeck, I have very low hearing on the right ear and now my left ear hearing has changed.

I was on betahistine for a year but started getting stomach pain I then stopped it and then noticed my tinnitus after a few weeks.

2 weeks ago I got a hearing test and the doctor said to go back on Betahistine I haven’t noticed a improvement in my tinnitus yet.

Oh no. That’s so disappointing. If it’s any help…when I did take it the tinnitus did not resolve (temporarily) for four days. We must have an inflammatory process going on?

Prednisolone seems to do things to some people and not others. It can seem to help with Tinnitus & this could be for many reasons, some of it could be inflammation or not. It also seems to improve the hearing tests for some people & I have just had a dose of it and my hearing test was improved, the tinnitus was also fading in and out at one point, but, only slightly. I am going to try and do a few more doses of Prednisolone as well, but, I want to do a stronger dose of it, I also hear some people take it for life and they no longer have any tinnitus. My dose was 15mg a Day of Prednisolone which I think is quite low, what dose level of prednisolone was you on ?

That’s great that your tinnitus was fading! Every little change is an improvement. I had wanted to continue on it but my physician wouldn’t allow it. I’m going to ask her reasoning. I was on 5mg for 5 days only. Let us know how you do!
