Hi - I have taken amoxicillin I guess many, many times over the years for ear infections (prior to an ear operation), gum infections and the like with no problems. Once last year I had another ear infection during the very early stages of my tinnitus and a week on this antibiotic cured both. Recently an alternative antibiotic was prescribed (for something else) and the patient info leaflet mentions a risk of tinnitus - so I have not taken it, and woukd suggest that you stay with what you have, especially as the maximum period you should be on it for is 5 - 7 days, so hopefully any tinnitus adverse effect will be temporary.

Hi

I have T and have been advised by ENT NHS consultant that amoxicillin is ok - and I have successfully taken it on several occasions to successfully sort infections. I was told to avoid many anti-biotics but to take amoxicillin - a penicillin antibiotic. It definitely did not worsen my T.
