Hi everyone I'm new to this forum I was refered here by another member as I have recently noticed my ears ringing when I lie down last night lasted for ages and I had palpitations and a bit of chest discomfort. Any suggestions on what you guys do to reduce this?

Tinnitus UK’s website offers some excellent tips in dealing with insomnia - which is very common among those with tinnitus:

In addition, I would also recommend doing some mild exercise before going to sleep to ensure that you’re physically tired.

Listening to Melvin Bragg on the In Our Time podcast always sends me to sleep!

All the best,

Richard

Hi, sorry to hear you’re having sleep problems. RKAUF has given you the link to Tinnitus UK’s website which has good advice. I suffer from bouts of sleeplessness due to my tinnitus. If I can’t fall asleep, I don’t just lay there worrying, I get up and read a book in another room with the lights low until I feel tired. Feel a bit jaded the next day but make sure I keep busy so that I hopefully get a good nights sleep. Keep well.

Hello YumzWelcome I'm not sure if you have had your ears looked and if you have and it's been diagnosed as Tinnitus there are things you can do to relieve the symptoms first Tinnitus can be scary when you first get it I use to call it the Bear on my back but don't let it beat you fight back enjoy life Tinnitus doesn't like quiet it breed's on it so noise helps your Brain Will start to Push the tinnitus into the background during the day there's always noise but nighttime when you are trying to sleep you concentrate on the noise so you have to try and hibernate the tinnitus noise its takes a bit of time but it does work i use various ways at the moment I'm using a fan I also use sleeping apps there's a big choice you Will find one that's right for you it takes time but generally works enjoy life take tinnitus on and beat.

Marcus.

Get yourself a sleep headband. It’s Bluetooth and connect it to your phone. Listen to a channel on YouTube called sleep deeper: live better by mark bowden. It’s sleep hypnotherapy. They’re about 8 hours long and really help you to relax and take the edge of your tinnitus. Good luck

Amazon. Mines called musicozy but there’s plenty on there which all look very similar. They’re about £20
