Hypnotherapy
There was a similar posting a few days ago - put “hypnotherapy “ I to the search box top right of this page. The British tinnitus Association doesn’t recommend it.
Hi Jorrocks, I'm a hypnotherapist. There is no magic bullet for 'curing' T. Mine is sporadic. It has been 0.1 on the scale from 0 to 10 over the last 6 months. I've got hypno colleagues and we have helped each other using hypnosis. Some people gain relief (it is also about the belief system), and some people don't. If there is a mechanical issue then it is unlikely that hypnotherapy can cure it. It can help lower anxiety and help reframe. There are a number of techniques I use with my clients and have had positive results but not many people present with T. I helped someone recently with migraines and also had T and sleep issues. He got a positive result with the migraine and sleep but not the T. I didn't really focus on the T as he wanted to work with me on migraines and sleep. This helped lower his stress levels and he is calmer as a result and better able to deal with the T. Hope this helps.
Yes, I have hypnotherapy every 2 weeks and for me it works in that he helps me with stress and sleep .....so INDIRECTLY this helps my tinnitus as stress is definitely a trigger for me.Nobody will say ( or in my view should say ) that they can cure your tinnitus...but I personally find hypnotherapy helpful....along with yoga and acupuncture.
But pretty much I am helping myself to manage my tinnitus, not get rid of it.
My hypnotherapist then leaves me with a 45 minute link to our session that I listen to most nights between my sessions .
Its worth a try...but not to get rid of tinnitus. Rather, to help you manage it.
