Tinnitus complicated by migraines

I have been getting migraines for several years now and get Botox injections for them. This seems to work well. Now after getting covid19 and developing tinnitus from it, the tinnitus seems to bring on more migraines and alternatively the migraines will bring on a more intense tinnitus. Just wondering if anyone else has a similar problem and how they deal with this menacing duo??

Hi Treasures Juggling two health problems is tricky . I've got cfs & tinnitus and they do impact on one another. There are no easy answers . I try to strike a balance and deal with them together, not separately - if that makes sense. Whereas before I had coping strategies for cfs I've had to adjust them to allow for T as well .

Hi Treasures,I know little about migraines, I think my tinnitus was triggered by sinus pain and some neck pain.. I now also have two issues, Tinnitus and Hyperacusis. On right side . As you say. “ A menacing duo “. Indeed.

I think there is very little help for us out there. 😞. just have to get on with it. However this hyperacussis added onto tinnitus is awful. I might go back to ENT. (Waste of space). 😂. Good luck to you. 😃

Hi Treasures, sorry to hear you are suffering. I have had migraines for 25 years now but my tinnitus only started at the end of November 2021 - having both is hard. I'm still trying to adjust to the constant high pitch squeal and am still waiting for an appointment at the Audiovestibular clinic that my GP referred me to. I've had 4 or 5 migraines since the T started and have noticed that just before, the T seems to peak. I take Zomig nasal spray (only thing that seems to work for me) as soon as a migraine comes on and thankfully the pain eases relatively quickly and the pitch of the T is less intense, although still very much there! I have been seeing a chiropractor which is helping too - the T does quieten down after a good crack of the back and neck! I also found that Pranayama breathing techniques can calm my mind when it all seems a bit too much. I'm very new to tinnitus so am, like many people desperate for anything that may help. Having migraines is hard enough without the constant noise in your head and ears. My thoughts are with you.
