Hello Nellynoonoo. If you do have tinnitus then you are joining a large community! Over one in ten people have it. I’m sure you are anxious at the moment but there are ways to feel better over the weeks and months - I expect you’ve gone through the British tinnitus association website.
If you contemplate that so many people have it, and are leading normal and productive lives, then you can too. It takes a bit to get there, though.
You’re waiting for an appointment. Please be aware that NICE issued guidance to GP’s on how to deal with people presenting with T for the first time. Many GPs may not know about it because Covid came along at the same time. So you can make your gp aware of this guidance.
As far as your noise is concerned, we all experience T in different ways, so we can’t diagnose for you.
Wishing you all the best - let us know how you get on with your gp.
Welcome Nellynoonoo 🙂 It sounds like tinnitus .. If you can hear it and no one else can. I'm sure your GP will confirm one way or another. GP's aren't experts in tinnitus so you might have more questions than answers. The BTA website, forum and helpline will be able to offer advice / opinions. All the very best.
Nice work Nelly. That was my first port of call. Specsavers are very good. Very thorough. I had more hearing loss than I expected . They gave me hearing aids. Once you have an audiogram your GP will know what to do next. Let us know how you get on.
