Things that have helped my ringing

Hi there,, I've just joined this community in hopes of connecting and helping others who also have tinnitus! I'd like to share some things that have helped me:

1) Acupuncture by far as been the best for managing my symptoms, I have been diagnosed with TMD which is directly correlated with tinnitus and it has dulled the pain and lessened the severity and certain pitches of my ringing. Apparently tinnitus is a very REAL circulation issue as well! Not ONLY for those with TMD

2) CBD oil has been wonderful as well. Anxiety triggers flare ups and I have noticed I've been a lot more calm and less irritated too

3) L-Theanine is amazing for anxiety, it has genuinely worked for me despite me initially being sceptical. It's non drowsy too! I take this morning and night on an empty stomach.

4) Magneiusm supplements relax the muscles around the face and ears which can exasperate the ringing!

5) Sound machine at night to help me sleep, not only calms me down but drowns out the ringing a lot

6) Deep meditation is very healing, I put in certain audios and focus on my breathing and picture sceneries

I hope these help you! And to whoever is reading this, please don't lose hope because there is a lot of science being done on tinnitus and I genuinely believe it is something that can be reversed, and you are not alone!!

Hello. Can you say more about poor circulation and tinnitus or direct me to where I could find more info? Thank you.

Yes I will try to find as many as I can! This is some general information about how circulation is important for the functioning of your organs through the lens of chinese medicine. Tinnitus can either be caused, or WORSENED by lack of blood circulation since the ears are less nourished by blood in the body, along with feet since they are on opposite ends of the body. They are the most common places of circulation issues. The ears are rich with nerve endings and any stress or irritation or the jaw out of place can cause the ringing. This site mentions acupuncture has been shown to be effective in treating tinnitus! If it doesnt work dm me and I will find a way to send it to you :)

I can't encourage acupuncture enough for ear ringing! They place these fine needles near your ears and parts of your face and head and it helps a lot :) different experiences for everyone tho, for me it is taking a while. But it is worth it for me

Hello, thank you for sharing 🤍 Could you say more about your diagnosis for TMD, symptoms, tests you had & the feedback you had from specialists about how it relates to the tinnitus - and treatments they’ve suggested?

springlullaby profile image
springlullaby in reply toHla20

Yes of course! I was diagnosed with TMD early in my life around 12 years old. My main symtpoms were muscle spasms, clenching, and ringing. It was caused by dental malpractice where my upper jaw was PUSHED back pressing against my ear canals causing the pain and sudden ringing. I'm hoping one day to see a TMD doctor and chiropractor! Acupuncture has been a life saver in the meanwhile. There are different triggers of tinnitus and there's a strong correlation between orthodontic work and TMD triggering the ringing. All of that pressure in the joint irritates the delicate nerves of the ear and essentially, the muscles around your jaw and face can never relax. Funny enough, my acupuncturist told me that ear ringing for a lot of his patients STARTED WHILE THEY WERE SLEEPING which is exactly my case! I woke up from a dream of a girl screaming which turned into this ringing. Very interesting and hoping to learn more about that as well.

Hi springlullaby,

Can you tell me which CBD oil you use, how much you take and do you use it everyday? I'm now looking into CBD oil as I am going through a bad spike and loosing sleep any information would be gratefully received.

Hi there! Apologies for the late reply. I take Enerhealth Botanicals, but I believe they only ship in the U.S. where I am from. I would suggest reddit forums for suggestions on what to take! That's how I discovered a lot of good supplements

For sleep, I definitely recommend chamomile tea, and if it agrees with you, valerian root tea (though it gave me weird dreams, which sometimes happens as a side effect)

Hello springlullaby my tinnitus worsened with 2 head injury's, its now unbearable, i have wondered if acupuncture could help, did your acupuncture person say how many times he has used this technique to help tinnitus sufferers, and has it helped every time. When i banged my head i did notice and still do sometimes that when i yawn my jaw hurts around the ear , everything feels ok around my ear and jaw but i have never mentioned that to the doctor.

My acupuncturist has had overwhelming success treating tinnitus! I believe it is going to be used and studied more in the future as a means of treating it. If your jaw is hurting, I suggest seeing a TMJ specialist and a chiropractor because it almost sounds to me that the trauma you experienced might have either caused inflammation in your jaw or possibly shifted it out of alignment. Chiropractor would be able to physically move it back in place! Acupuncture can minimize the ringing as well. When we experience trauma, our nerves can become irritated and sensitive and the needles can relieve the pressures on the ears and jaw
