Habituation

Not sure that I buy the habituation myth, I'm 2 years into this and not habituated, I simply had to change my life and expectations so that I can function around it most of the time but habituation so I don't notice it? No.
I’d say, Rusetreloades, that’s habituating. You put up with it - it’s not going to go away but life goes on. I was musing over this, this morning, when walking to the shops. I’ve severe arthritis in my toes such that the big toe doesn’t bend more than a millimetre or so. This makes me walk like a pregnant duck (I’ve seen videos🙀) and it hurts. But because it’s been there for so long, I’m habituated. I don’t think about it nor the T unless something happens to being these things to my attention.
9 months into my tinnitus, unable to habituate, I just try to mask my T using hearing aids and trying to get on as normal with my life. The problem I have with using hearing aids is when I take them out to sleep my T seems to be very loud and can sometimes struggle to fall asleep.
Yes, I’ve habituated to it. I just get on with my life and try to ignore it.
Two years in - mine is now only an issue at night. For some reason getting in a car always settles mine. I seriously did think I would never habituate - lockdown helped to some extent as I had to get used to tolerating silence. It is still there but does not drive me up the wall.
