Pulsatile Tinnitus - Cured - No Doctor

Hi all,

Decided to find a forum on this, so I can share my experience...

Frustratingly, I’ve been trying to get a referral for this, for months. My GP forgot to send it initially, then he sent it to the wrong departement, well his assistant did. I still haven’t had the referral and at one point it got so bad I started to believe it must be something serious.

During lockdown, I decided to practice certain breathing methods, following someone called Wim Hof. I now perform his techniques daily, followed by a cold shower. This changes biochemistry and creates a stronger vascular system. I didn’t realise, it would have such a positive impact on my PT, it has practically disappeared. I can’t actually believe this, as I thought I’d be stuck with it for the rest of my life.

Wim Hof’s methods have been scientifically tested for their health benefits, so doing them is highly advised for anyone and everyone. But, if you’re suffering like I was, with PT, then try it. Cold showers are difficult to take, but they genuinely make you feel more alive than anything I’ve ever done. To understand why they’re so good for you, search for some YouTube vids, or read the same book I am, The Wim Hof Method. The audiobook for this is quite an easy listen as well.

Anyway, I hope this helps, I needed to share as I’m so relieved to be able to feel free from the intense pulsation and crackling.

Feel free to ask any questions,

C

Wow! I have PT too. I know of Win Hof and have done his breathing methods but not done the cold showers despite reading on many forums (not tinnitus forums, but alternative health forums) how beneficial cold showers are.

Sorry to hear you were let down. I'm glad you've found something that works for you.

I'm just a bit sceptical, I'm afraid, and I dislike his claims - albeit harmless on the surface. Sorry to throw a bucket of cold water over this (if you'll excuse the pun). I think it's just a masquerade that can be dangerous.

For the record, I love cold showers and I find meditation beneficial, but it's not science in the medical sense. I would certainly not recommend anyone to use this as a substitute to seek professional treatment. And this is my point; were false claims dress themselves up to be science, it may be dangerous if someone has a serious underlying condition that could be missed (however rare or stretched the health service is in providing diagnosis sooner). I would be concerned for anyone, but particularly those who might have underlying conditions or maybe not as young in body, to speak to a medical professional before attempting any self-treatment (guided or not).

Generally though Hoff's claims are a bit far fetch, or over-the-top to say the least, and seem to serve for marketing purposes only. Alarm bells! The science on his website points to ongoing investigation and other studies it shows are tenuous. I then stumbled on the Science Daily web page, a study linked directly to Wim Hoff's methods, which clearly states the methods have no scientific basis. "The investigators emphasize that so far, these results have only been obtained in a single individual. Therefore, they can not serve as scientific evidence for the hypothesis that the autonomic nervous system and the immune response can be influenced through concentration and meditation techniques."

I can’t clarify the authenticity of his claims, but I can see he’s able to do things others can’t. Like stay in ice lakes for hours. Not only him, I’ve seen his students do the same. Most people without this method end up with hypothermia. So there’s obviously something there.

He does state on a documentary and Joe Rogan’s podcast, he and a group of his students, have been tested. They were injected with viruses and none showed any symptoms. Below is something I found on a group study he helped with.

Also, I will still be attending my appointment to see a professional about my PT. I just wanted to share this, as I suffered quite badly from it. If it helps people before they get medical advice or after, then it should be shared.

Please don’t let anyone put you off testing this for yourself. I’ve never felt better. Also, it has almost alleviated all of my anxiety, increased my productivity and positivity.
