Yay LXM827, if I were you I'd go back to my GP and ask him/her exactly what's going on? Obviously ENT have sent their report and I suggest you ask him/her to explain to you in simplistic terms what vascular/nerve contact means. Of what by what? The V11 cranial nerve is the facial and parts of the tongue nerve. The V111 cranial nerve is the vestibulocochlear nerve which affects hearing and balance. I am no medical expert but hopefully once your GP has fully explained the information sent to him/her you'll have a better understanding.
Hopefully although I’m not holding out much hope! He didn’t mention anything about the vascular contact between the 7th and 8th cranial nerves to me - it was actually the GP receptionist who told me that when I rang after getting a missed call from the GP. Receptionist told me that and that the GP said I defo needed to see my ENT consultant again. I’m assuming they got from the MRI report which I presume a copy is sent to the GP as well as ENT.
It will be interesting to see what he says in the letter to the GP and also in the balance clinic referral letter too.
This is interesting me as I have an MRI upcoming. I have reason to believe the cause of my T is Vascular. Not considered the nerve side of it. My GP said if MRI shows all is normal he could refer me to Neurology for a CT dye scan.
My tinnitus is very minor and intermittent - i usually only notice it to be honest when I’m in bed at night.
My main problems are the general unsteadiness, ear pressure and sudden dizzy spells.
It will be interesting what my GP says - she can’t really go against the consultant but then she left the message to say about the MRI being normal apart from the vascular contact - but consultant made no mention of this at all!
