Yes I try not to fall asleep watching tv as so loud after a short nap and can last for days

If I have a good deep sleep at night it’s not so bad.But I have heard other sufferers say the same thing so your not the only one.it still surprises me how T affect people in so many different ways (ie different sounds tone etc let’s hope a cure will be found as at the moment I am going though a very bad time with my T it’s driving me mad.

If I've rested t is more manageable - watch tv. on iPad so it is not on when I wake - use relaxation and mindfulness apps later in night. I find waking up to lots of sound makes t loud.

Hi, dsh2358,

Yes, this happens to m a lot - no matter if I wake in the middle of the night, or when the vibrating alarm goes off or after dozing in front of the TV.

There is a theory that the brain is like a computer starting up. It runs through various checks to make sure certain processes are running properly. Likewise on waking you'll probably notice straightway whether or not you're hot or cold or the duvet is half way on the floor or if you've missed something you were watching.

The theory follows that if the brain associates tinnitus with your conscious state it will actively seek it out to make sure it's "running" OK. That's why I think it seems extra loud on waking up.

I suppose the best way to counter this is to actively seek out some kind of distraction.

Respectfully submitted,

Keoni

Yes when i wake up in the morning or even try dozing off during the day i wake up and its terrible,so loud i can’t communicate or even hear myself think.

It settles a bit once i forced myself to get up and in the shower.

The pulsatile tinnitus is worse than anything and i’ve been, seen and done/tried everything.

My only help is looking after and walking the dog.He understands my pain more than any doctor ever has.
