Stubbornness is key?? Apparently 🧐

Hi been a while but thought I’d share some short information I was given today. Basically I see a mental health professional every once in a while not due to the Tinnitus or anything this started before this is for childhood stuff not fun but not the place to talk about it anyway so today he surprised me with a person who has Tinnitus in both ears who describes it as a constant noise that sounds like someone blowing a whistle in the distance she said she’s forty and has had it since she was twelve due to an illness and she wanted to give me some tricks she uses:

1) don’t call it Tinnitus give it an embarrassing nickname that makes you laugh. It’ll take away its power and fear.

2) if it gets really loud step outside if you can and go for a walk but don’t just go for the walk be in the walk notice trees birds the grass things in the sky etc. Notice your surroundings even if you have to say it out loud to distract yourself.

3) keep living. It’s hard and difficult but you have to try your best to live like you did before (unless it’s what gave you T).

4) find others who have it or know about it so you can share your story with. It’s good to talk to people who understand what you’re going through but don’t dwell on it. If you meet up share your story and then move onto other things to talk about.

5) enjoy life as best you can. Medical science eventually finds cures for things and research is being done. It’s horrible to deal with but you have to bring out the stubbornness in you.

So apparently stubbornness is key lol. Mine is screaming right now but I won’t let it beat me. I’m watching tv I’m listening to podcasts to sleep I have a fan on and I’m enjoying Stranger Things (tv show) and I asked someone out!!!!! Which for me is a big thing trust me (think of me as a very gangly Mr Bean lol). Anyway I thought I’d share what was said to me. Don’t know if it helps anyone but it seems to have helped her.

This is fantastic to read. It is so easy to get caught up in it and then been unable to distract yourself from it. I'm going to take all of these pointers in board... Thank you and good luck with your date 😊 Xx

Just sharing what was passed on to me lol it seems to have helped this lady so I’m trying it out and thought I’d share. I mean I know it isn’t medical advice or anything but it’s the first thing I thought I should do lol.

Brillant advice, I realise that I'm already doing 2-5 which do help. Number 1 is a new one for me and I'm def gonna try it. The idea that they always find cures is heartening. Thanks for passing it all on.

It was nice to read about somebody who's positive with tinnitus all that time. My ears are ringing real loud but I'm sitting here watching TV and reading things about tinnitus. Thank you for sharing that information.
