Hello everyone: Hello I'm new to this forum... - Tinnitus UK
Hello everyone
Hi and welcome. Not sure if I'm wise ! there's some great folk on this forum who really understand and are very caring
Hi Emu welcome to this forum. Like you I have tinnitus noises and in my case both ears are affected. My tinnitus came about as a result of working in noisy environments in a dockyard and in my youth from going to venues with live music and being too close to speakers. How are you affected and what were your causes? I was diagnosed 6 years ago but I’ve had tinnitus much longer. ENT audiologist has recently given me hearing aids with in built masking sounds and these help. I also try to keep myself busy so that I’m distracted from my annoying sounds. Going out for walks, playing computer games and listening to the radio all help me too. At night in bed without the hearing aids I try listening to sounds on apps like Sound Oasis and Chillax. Tell us here what you do if anything to combat these awful noises. Good luck!
Thanks for your reply soon, I don't do anything specific to mask the noises, mine is more a high hiss and movement noises in Right ear, they block and unblock regularly and make me dizzy and tired.
Have you spoken to your GP about your tinnitus noises, or if so, had a referral to ENT? Hopefully you’ll get some help and solutions to your current problems as you shouldn’t ignore them. I can assure you they won’t go away on their own. Best wishes and good luck!
Hi Did, yes I've seen the entire specialist, but was on a goodday so got signed off, she explained that it's raining activity and gave me a couple of apps that's all, was quite disappointed really.
You're at the right form everybody here is very helpful. We all are suffering from tinnitus
Welcome to the best forum Emu where you will find very nice folk with sensible answers (mostly anyway!). At the very least it reassures you that you are not alone in dealing with T.
There are many wise postings on here, some lengthy ones which help to explain the condition, and I would suggest you look at the michaelee postings in particular. Also, becoming a member of the BTA will enable you to receive a quarterly magazine QUIET which has real-life stories of people who are still enjoying life despite having T.

Thanks Brett, didn't mean to put up that picture was before Tinnitus lol so I probably don't smile as much now. Sorry about your troubles, last winter I was having deep clogging sounds in my ears, I have to limit water and wind in them.
