A week after my audiologist appointment at local hospital, with success noted from receipt of 2 hearing aids with masking fitted in them, I went on holiday to Devon for a holiday. How brilliant it was to be outdoors every day with a variety of street and seaside noises to distract me and not one day when I was driven mad with my T noises. First full day back home and being indoors in quieter surroundings the noises return. Well when I say return it’s not as though they ever went away it’s just that I had so many other noises to distract me. So for me over the rest of the summer I plan to get out as often as possible while the sun shines. It seems the only solution for me!

Back to normal routine

That's the way Sid. Drive it into the background and eventually your brain will knock it down the list of priorities - habituation.
Sounds like a good plan Sid - especially if this lovely weather continues!

I also noticed improvement very soon after getting the first set of maskers several years ago. I couldn't move around without them falling out but the advanced ones I got soon afterwards fixed that problem. Unfortunately I cannot hold a convo whilst wearing the hearing aid maskers (or whatever they are called) but thankfully they helped so much I rarely need to wear them now.
The soundwave radio I got from the deaf society largely fixed my sleep problems and for me that was the real breakthrough. I have become aware that my Tinnitus together with Hyper-Sensitive Hearing has affected other aspects of my health which in turn have also improved.
Different things and levels of help people differently of course but the principle of diffusing the hissing through the 'controlled' emission of white noise is the key as the audiologist told me it would right from the start. So pleasing to read somebody else getting relief from suffering.
Like Ruud1boy says, YOU are knocking it down.
