Hi been diagnosis today and started taking carbimazole is it true you don't pay for your prescription? I paid today
For some reason when you are over active and take Carbimazole you have to pay for prescriptions. Crazy isn't it?
I think it's because over-active thyroid is supposed to be reversible with medication, surgery or other treatments. Unfortunately it often results in one becoming hypothyroid, at which point you will be able to get free prescriptions. I agree that it is crazy as it is very rarely as clear cut as being "curable".
I paid for mine today too, once I know where I stand a bit better I'll have a look at the pre-payment certificates, it might work out cheaper xx
And they did not go up with the latest hike in prescription charges!

It's infuriating that we have to pay for hyper medication. I'm prescribed antihistmines too so it's always expensive at the pharmacy! Grr.
