Gosh TM, I think I’ve had one for 20 years. I will check it carefully!

I'm thinking you have likely cared for it well then 😁 they are family airloom aren't they... an old trusted friend often from childhood when you feel low

Just checked…. it says ‘St Michael’ on the bottle and as M&S dropped this branding in 2000, it’s definitely a vintage model!🤣

My mother used to fill them from a kettle which was still bubbling. Then screw in the stopper so hard it was almost impossible to undo. Never used a cover.

I'd like to suggest one of the Microwave Wireless Heatpads - often sold for pets.

Even then, choose carefully and make sure you follow the instructions and continue to do so into the future.

Just saw this bit in the link TiggerMe

Empty the bottle and hang it upside-down to drain

Always wondered why hot water bottles had that hole in the bottom 🤔

I must check mine. I know I've had it for years.........

I do remember as kids the struggle to stand it up on the edge of the bath.... but always filled from the kettle to get maximum heat.... no ones wants a lukewarm bottle 🫤

I can't be the only one that doesn't empty their hot water bottle until it needs filling again. Can I?😳And yes, always filled from the kettle that's just boiled.

I have a scar on my arm caused by my Red Riding Hood hot water bottle....her hood came off during the night and the hot metal cap caused a burn and big blister on my arm.....must have been 4 or 5. My mother thought she was safely covered!

Dangerous things hot water bottles when filled with near boiling water!!

70+ years later a microwave "Hottie" is a better option!

I cuddled a hot water to my stomach , in bed, one night. It burst over my stomach. The rubber had perished. I think the wheat bags etc. that you can heat in a microwave are a much safer option nowadays!

mine must be knocking on 100yrs old ,

indestructable (so far),

takes 2 kettles to fill it ,

stays hot for about 24 hrs ,

needs a new washer fitted occasionally

(will definitely burn hole in leg given half a chance... lol)

But you reminded me the door stop is duel purpose... Back to the Future 😁
