I don't know anything reliable about high bicarbonate, but if you google

"electrolytes high bicarbonate" you'll get lots of links about the subject.

You could also look up "metabolic alkalosis" :

Thanks for that humanbean and your other reply. It's all very interesting how many things get out of kilter. I'm hoping my endo can join some of the dots!
