omeprazole and levothyroxine

Hi,

Does anyone know if there's an interaction between these two drugs and if I should delay taking my Omeprazole a certain number of hours after the Levothyroxine? I am on 87.5 levothyroxine and 20 mg Omeprazole.

At least 4 hour gap between Omeprazole and Levo, this is because Omeprazole can decrease the absorption of Levo. It's worth doing a full thyroid function test a few weeks after starting Omeprazole to see if it has any effect on your levels, most important to check FT4 and FT3 not just TSH.

You have Hashimoto’s (autoimmune thyroid disease) diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least annually

But ESPECIALLY if on any PPI like omeprazole

Why has GP prescribed PPI?

Omeprazole will lower vitamin levels even further

As you have Hashimoto’s have you had coeliac blood test done

Or are you already on strictly gluten free diet ?

Or dairy free too?
