If you have chest pain you should see your GP asap, with anything heart related never assume it’s caused by medications or existing conditions.

and even if the symptoms are caused by the Levothyroxine it doesn't make heart symptoms less serious. I have had heart palpitations, sudden rise in heart rate and sudden rise in BP since being on Levo. In my case it has now subsided but my understanding is that both under medication and over medication can affect the heart. Whatever the cause, it is still affecting the heart! I went to A&E and had a ECG. My GP also sent me for an outpatient ECG,

Thanks Pearl Teapot . I'm happy to hear ur heart ok now. I've had a feeling of being very underdosed on levothyroxine for about 12 years. I've had enough . So I just put my dose up lots, and feeling lots better . Surely that means I feel I'm underdosed. Before feel like I'm dying . So now I am going to do a test for Thyroid levels , with good company online .I hope this resolves .

You shouldn’t increase your dose by “lots” you should only increase it by 25mcg at a time then wait 6-8 weeks before testing, totally pointless doing tests if you’ve only just increased.

Hi Goldengirl69 I think there are a few issues here and it is difficult to separate them. I think my palpitations etc were due to under-dosing (not enough T3 to keep the heart happy) but they were also to do with my body getting used to a new dose. My body is now used to the new dose and the heart has settled a bit but I'm still under-dosed (for other reasons).

If I understand your post right, your heart palpitations are since you increased your dose? In which case it could be because your body has not yet settled with the new dose or it could be that you are overdosed. Only time will tell. Either way, in that time you should get your heart checked out.

Hi Pearl teapot. Oh no I've had bad heart for long time . And Suspect I was underdosed for years . I had swooshing in ears , heartbeat in ears . Very violent body pain. Was so ill, close to death. Then today I decided to up the dose . And mm feeling a heck of a lot better. Heart feels lot better, and all other symptoms have lessened soso much .body pain gone . I'm hoping it will stay like this .
