I don’t know if this is allowed but wondered if anyone can help. There are 3 tests on here that are very low in range and the hospital says these results are ok . I’m concerned as they are for a teenager. Anyone with medical knowledge please comment thankyou

None of us on here are medical professionals. Sorry.

We rarely see blood gas/oximetry results.

We are not medically trained.

And your phrasing is (inadvertently, I'm sure) a touch misleading. "very low in range" usually means the result is actually within the range but is low. For example, a Free T4 of 12.1 when the range is 12 to 22. Two results highlighted are dramatically below range.

Please seek advice from someone who is trained. Such results can vary within seconds, so the circumstances might be very important. That is why, for example, we see pulse oximetry sensors on fingers of patients in hospital.

Good morning raine-wager. Sorry to hear you have concerns for your teenager, I hope you can find the right support. As others have said, this forum is patient to patient support, sharing our journeys and ideas of the info we have gathered. I’m sure many of the members do work in a medical profession, but it would be unethical for them to comment in that capacity. And then you have many of us who know more than our medical professionals, however, we still reply as a lay person, we all must make up our own minds and proceed with autonomy rather than under the influence of others. I wonder if you changed the title of your post?

‘Does anyone understand/have experience of these test?’

If this sample was taken from someone sitting upright coherent and talking with normal oxygen saturation’s on pulsoxymetry then this is a venous blood gas as opposed to an arterial blood gas. The ranges are for an arterial gas not a venous gas. Most likely the operator didn’t select the correct sample type when putting the sample through. The metabolic measurements would need to be interpreted with other blood results such as urea, creatinine and electrolytes as well as a full blood count along with a medical history and possibly a physical examination to give any conclusions. I hope you get some answers soon.
