As things are different for the four UK nations, maybe Google for your nation's latest information on shielding. I live in Wales and it's very likely different from England.

I imagine the announcement hasn't yet been made then. I'm sure it will be included in the daily briefing and on the news when it is.

I have heard that people who are shielding will have their restrictions lifted in July.

It is good news about steroids being used for Covid-19 patients. I was given Prednisone back in February for my inflamed lungs and I then began to feel better after 8 weeks of feeling very ill.

I have been shopping for non essentials twice now and people are not keeping 2 metres apart now. One elderly couple actually laughed at me for following "Boris's Rules" I will continue to do what I have been doing for 3 months even though others are not. As I said before some of the people in my road have had their grandparents/adult children etc visit every single day and have completely ignored the rules. I think this has been repeated all over the UK and that is why the death rate is still only slowly going down.

im with the old people. i dont see the reasoning behind mixing with your family, a lot of people do it and i dont believe it causes a spread. if you keep within your own family circle and respect other peoples wishes outside it, whats the harm. i know of no one among friends family neighbours that have been affected by this and a lot of doctors are coming out of the woodwork to say the hospitals in a lot of areas have not been busy since this started but the government and powers that be and mainstream media would have had us believe that we would be dropping like flies. they are also falsifying numbers, its put on nearly every death certificate. i think common sense dictates how we should behave

How do you know that your family haven't been in contact with someone who has the virus? My daughter and her family are sticking to the rules and she hasn't been out shopping since the lockdown so she is probably safe but both I and her will continue to follow government guidelines. I might think that some of them don't make sense but they are the rules and until they change I will follow them. Also I would hate to get the virus and then pass it on to my Dad who is self isolating because he has COPD and could die if he caught it. I think because not everyone is social distancing that there will be a second peak but I hope I am wrong. I notice that in China they now have a new outbreak which is worrying. So I am not with the "old people" who have more of a chance of dying from this than the rest of the population. Just to add there are no outbreaks in my area but there are a lot of deliveries being made from other areas and how are we certain that some of these delivery drivers don't have the virus??

when out and about we respect other peoples views by social distancing but between ourselves we dont. i have never had flu nor a flu shot and we all work hard to eat healthy and look after our immune system. obviously people with health problems should self isolate and we wouldnt go near them but there is a 98% recovery rate from this flu which arrives every winter and yes it will come back again because seasonal flu appears every winter from october - april. so if we keep closing the country down every winter now there will be no country left to live in. my friend who has COPD and suffers every year from a chest infection for about six weeks contracted this virus in february/march and was ill for nearly two weeks but is now back at work. i am just not convinced this is worth closing the country down for and even some doctors are questioning this. we just have to respect each other's opinions i suppose

I wouldn't call it just "flu" and yes I am healthy as well and eat well etc. but I was still admitted to hospital in February with breathing difficulties because of the "flu". I had to have an x-ray and then I was given steroids because my lungs were inflammed. I have already been contacted to fill in a questionaire to see if what I had was infact Covid-19 not just the "flu". I don't think the country will be shut down every year for the "flu" but only when a virus is as dangerous as Covid-19 which has killed a large number of people. I think we should had shut our country down a lot earlier and perhaps there would not have been as many deaths.

sweden has managed to save their econony with less deaths than us so still not sure closing the country down is worth it. in any event, we will just have to agree to disagree, only time will tell. Sorry to hear you were unwell and glad you are better, regards

I think Sweden is an exception but you are entitled to your views. This has hit my family hard and my husband is only getting paid a third of what he usually gets and most of his firm have been furloughed so he is doing a lot more work for a lot less money. At least he still has a job and think a lot restaurants and hotels will close because of this. I like to visit Torquay once a year and I have heard that they are closing Living Coast and all the animals will have to find new homes etc. This has hit the country hard but I still think it was the right thing to do.

yes a lot of suffering but not all from the virus. hope you and your family get back on to some sort of normality soon. i fortunately retired recently so its not been much of a change for me, i feel sorry for all the young people

It isn't so much the daily deaths we need to watch, but the daily new cases which has levelled off now but is still high.

The Health Service Journal announced last night (Tuesday) that those being shielded in England will be released at the end of July. I think that is why suddenly Matty said there would be an announcement.
