A low level of basophils, which is one of the types of white blood cells, typically occurs with acute inflammation, infection, severe allergy, or hyperthyroidism (I understand that you have Hashimoto's, but don't know whether being in a "hyper" flare could mimic that, and trigger a depleting of basophils). But in any case, a low basophils level alone is non-specific and your GP would have to also look at other things to see what might be going on. So do you have any other indications that might point to what might be causing it such as raised inflammation, infection or an allergic reaction?
