Help with blood results
Really hard to see - might be worth typing out including ranges.
Yes
The Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies result indicates :
Hashimoto's Autoimmune Thyroiditis
The H means high.
The range is under (<) 59 and your result is 300.
Welcome to the 'club ' !! 🐥
The other test is within range so does NOT indicate Coeliac. However, it does state that if you haven't been eating gluten then the test is not reliable /conclusive. You have to eat plenty of gluten before this test - did you or are you on gluten free diet?
Do you have symptoms of Hypothyroidism / Underactive Thyroid?
Have you had any Thyroid function blood tests done :
TSH
FreeT4
FreeT3
Ask your GP to test the following nutrients levels also, as you may have deficiencies that require prescribed supplements :
Vitamin D
B12
Folate & Ferritin
Yes my TSH IS 0.30 mU/L. RANGE (0.4 - 5.00)
FT3 IS 3.63. pmol/L. RANGE (2.89 - 4.88)
FT4 IS. 14.7. pmol/L RANGE (9.0 - 19.0)
MY VIT D IS 19.1. nmol/L RANGE (>50) I have been prescribed vit D medication.
My TSH is low because I tried to get my ft3 and ft4 up into the higher numbers with my Dr he was increasing my dose of Levo but got scared when my TSH level fell. He sent me to an endocrinologist and these results are from tests she ordered. She tested for other things, liver, bone, iron, lipid but I can’t find vit b12 unless it comes under a different name. I was hoping I might get somewhere but this endocrinologist told me my TSH should be at 2 and if I over medicate my bones will get thin and it’s now known that over medicating also brings on dementia 🙄
That endo is talking rubbish. With a TSH of 2 you would probably be very ill. A low TSH does not mean your bones will get thing, and it isn't known that over-medicating will bring on dementia! lol
I've been warned about the Osteoporosis scare when I asked for more Levothyroxine too. So I said - send me for a DEXA scan and let's see if I have it!! Right now I need more Levothyroxine and a little T3.
Oh no, came the reply - you'll get it when you're older !!! Didn't think to mention that my Mum had Osteoporosis - and neglected Hypothyroidism. She wasn't given Thyroxine till in her late 70's.
TOO late as her Thyroid was Inactive by then rather than Underactive. So her Osteoporosis certainly wasn't caused by Thyroxine - I guess more likely caused by an absence of Thyroxine - but can't prove it.
After replying earlier I noticed "clinical details -HYPOTHYROIDISM' on top of blood form but couldn't find your post to edit.
Were you told you have Hashimoto's?
Looking at your tfts I would have thought you might benefit from some T3 also but don't suppose you'll get it. Are you OK symptoms wise?
Your Vitamin D is low. Was there any comment ie deficiency, severe deficiency or insufficiency on the results? Get a copy of that one also if not had it yet.
What dose are you on? If only 400IU then it's clearly not enough.
Once your Vitamin D is up I have read on here that your Levothyroxine should work better for you.
And about the TSH of 2: my target therapeutic level is maximum 2. So don't know why Endo's panicking saying it should be AT 2 !!
The 'normal' range for Euthyroid people goes lower anyway.
GPs are supposed to increase Levo dose if TSH rises over 2.
They are not supposed to reduce Levo dose if it goes below 2.
Endo should know better.
