meningioma

In November I had an incident.... It resembles a stroke. The hospital/neurologist assessed it as a migraine on the right side of my brain. They sent me for MRI'S and found a meningioma on the right hemisphere of my brain. When they first showed me the MRI scan on their computer they didn’t notice the Meningioma. They didn’t see a cause for my incident, so they sent the scans to a team of specialist. They blew up the scan and in turn found the growth. I’m tryin not to feek out. What good would that do anyway. I’m looking for any proactive methods I can use to shrink growth/tumour and improve my health. I’m guessing my immune system is compromised, but beyond that what do I do? Any and all help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Bless you. I understand the sense of anxiety such news induces. Yes, freaking out not beneficial however, understandable when people do.

I was diagnosed with 2 hemangiomas on the liver when I had a scan to check on hernia (diagnosed 20 yrs earlier), that I wanted repaired as private care day patient. I was very alarmed when I was told I did not, in fact, have a hernia!

After mdt meetings, letters to me, my GP, and out patient app, I was told they would leave them alone. No follow up planned (I guess unless I take ill!), this decision, at first, gave me constant anxiety. Now, I learn to live with it and yes, like you, decided I would boost immune system. Thus, I concentrate more on doing just that. I eat organic food, fresh. Walk, distress through mindfulness, yoga, etc...

I wonder what, (if any), does your consultant have planned for your new diagnosis?

I have gone for my second MRI this passed June, but my neurologist is on holidays until the end of August. My GP passed it off and told me to go through her for info. Needless to say I have made an appointment with my GP. I’m sure she can at least give me a copy of the scan. Its gets even crazier. I am an identical twin. My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer around the same time I found out about my meningioma. She has had the lump removed and now is going in for chemo on the 10th. Thank you for your help

it is a tumour on the white tissue that covers the brain. They believe its not cancer, but it will still grow and put pressure on my brain. Thank you for your help

I had surgery to remove a meningioma in March. I think I read somewhere that a ketogenic diet can be helpful but, sorry, could not tell you where or whether it works. Read too many web pages to remember. meningiomauk.org is a good starting point. If it is possible to shrink a tumour with diet it will be out there somewhere. I don't think it's an immune issue myself. You're right not to freak out - won't do any good at all. Good luck!

Do some research on the Budwig Diet or a ketogenic diet which could also incorporate the main aspects of the Budwig Diet. Sending hugs Xx

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I will research those diets. I was already looking into the Keto a little. I sometime wonder if our ancestors has it right. Way back when they followed their game across the continent foraging a long the way. As we have become more nomadic we have put more grains/carbs into our diet. It may work ok for some of us, but for the rest maybe we are designed more like our ancestors? Food for thought

Exactly! I look several years younger being on the keto diet and the Budwig quark & flaxseed oil mix (which is the main part of the diet that re-oxygenates the blood etc) is AMAZING for energy and just plain making you feel awesome! If you go on YouTube and find Dr Darren Schmidt, he has recently spoken about this in one of his videos and it is also a ketogenic meal (the quark, sometimes called cottage cheese but use quark if possible and flaxseed oil mix). Please feel free to message me if you need any info on this as I'd be happy to help :)
