Got raised infection markers and just getting over a bad bout of bowel issues. Had thyroid cancer and am diabetic. Discharged fm hosp day 12
Poor you but understandable if just had a bad bowel infection on top of everything else. Is your diabetes in a good place? Hope so. It I wouldn't worry at the moment. I've had inflammation markers and never had a clue why but you have a reason and often after surgery we go a bit off kilter. I would keep and eye on things but see you doctor if don't feel any improvement but bad infections take time to heal. Havecthey sorted out medication re thyroid cancer as that can take a while to settle as well from what I've read. Blood. Ella can react when faced with an infection but it takes about four months to fully replace all your blood cells as each one lives about 120 days so we are continually producing new ones as the old ones die. So your blood will take time as well to get fully back to normal.
May be keep a diary and chart how you are feeling so if still concerned you have something to share with your doctor.
Hi Linda,
What kind of thyroid cancer? There is a connection between medullary thyroid cancer and bowel issues caused by NETs (neuroendocrine carcinoid tumors). Did you go for EGD and colonoscopy?
Also, be careful with the steroids. Using them for a length of time can cause interference with absorption of the thyroid replacement hormone. People that experience this issue sometimes have to increase their TRH dose to compensate. Check you Free T4, hopefully the Free T3. Speak to your doctors about this.
Folicular Carcenoma, EGD? Currently only had flexible Sigmondscopy. Worried that symptoms are being treated and not the cause and everything is being masked and supressed by the Steriods? Diabetes not happy going to get hospital advice in the morning. Need bloods for thyroid levels so guess got to try to see GP current routine appointments take three weeks to organise xxx
EGD is when they go through the mouth with endoscope to scope through the stomach to the beginning of the small intestine.
