If getting RT3 tested on its own, do the same rules apply? (i.e. doing test 8am & not taking thyroid meds 24 hrs beforehand).

If you are only checking rT3 then do it whatever time you like.

Are you sure you want rT3 only? If you want rT3 ratio too you will need FT3 tested at the same time.

Thanks Clutter. I have just had my t3 tested last week and am also getting it done tomorrow (NHS). Was going to ask the nurse to do my Medicheck RT3 test at same time but doubt she'll agree so thought might try to get RT3 done at local hospital within 24 hours. I could still work out my ratio from that couldn't I?

Emily78,

You really need FT3 and rT3 tested together at the same time.

If you were thinking of trying to do it with the STTM calculator you'll struggle because the rT3 and FT3 are measured in different units.
