Suffering from levothyroxine side effects.

Hi there, I'm Samiya. I'm 27 and I have a 14×8 mm thyroid nodule on the left side. I found a similar situation about side effects of levothyroxine. I have started taking these pills since Last week . For the past few days, I've been experiencing irregular heartbeat, irregular blood pressure, and dizziness. I have this awful stomachache too. My symptoms increase at night and I hardly can sleep from chest pain. I haven't called my doctor yet. Is it normal or something serious?

Hi Samiya, Welcome to the forum.

It would help if you can post your recent blood tests with ranges.

What are the pills you've been taking? I assume they are levothyroxine, but what brand and what size?

The usual starting dose is either 25mcg or 50mcg (micrograms). It is essential to build up gradually so that your body can get used to it. You should stay on your initial dose (25 or 50mcg) for about 6 weeks then get tested again. then you should be prescribed an increase of 25mcg and take this for another 6 weeks. This test + increase merrygoround continues until your symptoms and blood tests improve.

I understand that if you are started on too high a dose you can get side effects such as palpitations. Maybe this has happened to you?

What brand of levo are you on? There are several and what suits one person may not suit another.

How many micrograms (mcg) does it say on the packet and what is the brand?

I'm sorry, I'm really trying to help you, but without knowing what pills you are taking I'm finding it difficult.

Looking back at your original post I think that you should go back to your doctor and explain your symptoms and how you have reacted to the pills. Take the packet of pills with you.

When I was first put on Levothyroxine I had palpitations for a while. The palpitations eventually disappeared. Perhaps my body adapted.

Guys I'm still suffering , it's like an attack on my chest , like my chest is exploding and also I have irregular blood pressure

You need to state your doseage to give the guys on here a chance to help you. It will tell you on the box or packet.
