On Carbimazole for Graves. have reduced gradually from 40mg to 20mg over the last three months.

Now have daily "gnawing toothace" in my right hip, right knee, right calf, right ankle and right fingers!

ibruprofen doesn't help. Have I reduced too quickly? My goiter is lot smaller than it was and, otherwise, I feel very good.

Pingpong, have you had a thyroid test within the last few weeks to check your thyroid levels? If you are overmedicated on 20mcg you may have become hypothyroid.

The other things to check are ferritin and vitamin D which are commonly low in hyperthyroid and hypothyroid patients. Low levels can cause musculoskeletal pain.

Hi Clutter,

Last blood test showed me to be very hyper but that was mid February and my Carbimazole was upped from 20 to 40 but a lot has happened since then, i.e. separation, house move, no job, etc. Definitely so much better in myself without the stress of what was happening and reduced back to 20 over last few weeks but the aches cut in. Will get myself off to the new GP for bloods:)
