Awards are based on your needs (or their assessment of your needs, which might be very different) - not the name of the illness. If you wish to claim, get the best advice you can from any available source such as CAB.

Depends on whether your doctor is willing to sign you off sick or not. If you are signed off, you can claim ESA. ESA is based on either income, so if you are a coupe ad one working, you barely get anything.... Or it can be contributions based. If you have paid a stamp , then you are entitled regardless of savings to the basic £72 something.... I am currently receiving the contribution based version of ESA, for my tennis elbow. It renders me unable to carry out my normal work.
No idea what pip is... Sorry.

esa is an out of work benefit, pip is not, many people claim dla which is currently changing to pip and still work
pip is for help needed with personal care or mobility
Thanks, I currently have an esa appeal lodged as I scored zero points at assesment with atos medical. I was signed off for anxiety, depression and sciatica. Before appealing I was diagnosed with a bulging disk in my back and included this in my letter to them however have now been diagnosed hyper and wondered wether this could benefit me or if I could claim pip or not,
Regards
you might get esa but you wont get pip or mobility unless you have serious mobility problems or are suffering from extreme debilitating physical disorder. my wife is really ill and she struggled to get basic pip.they dont dish it out that easily these days
I agree with Runrigfan, you will not get pip for your problems as they currently are.
BTW they never did give out DLA easily. You have always had to jump through hoops to get it.
My eldest son was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, meaning he was completely immobile from the waist down with no feeling, doubly incontinent and brain damaged. DLA was introduced just prior to his third birthday ( lowest age one could claim) and he had to have annual medicals, to make sure he still qualified, for the first five years of his claim. He is now 45 and told he will have to be reassessed for PIP! He now has no legs due to amputation, he has always been in a wheelchair, and has never been capable of work. This is how difficult is it can be to get approved. Do Not believe everything you read/see about scroungers, they make great headlines but are really few and far between.
