I see a chiropractor fairly regularly, I have told him loads about thyroid stuff over the years, whilst he is sorting out my muscles which are in spasm due to the sacroilliac joint going out of line. (common with thyroid probs apparantly)...

But there isn't much he can do about a hormone deficiency.

What were you thinking of asking for?

Hi I came across a few site regarding chiropractor and thyroid issues, I am still reading between the lines , the americans seems to be have looked more into the role of a a chiropractor and their thyroid problems

It is true that they have little to do with the hormone deficiency, however reading the sites they seem to help explain a lot that is causing us some other problems within the body that the MD medical doctors fail to say to us who suffer.

Must look up the sacroillac joint, i wish you well in your recovery.

Interesting about the sacroilliac joint going out of line due to thyroid. Mine did from a fall and wasn't diagnosed for over 10 years, just be chance creaked into place whilst stretching in bed, but now have other back problems struggling with.

I am also someone like you cc120; My SI Joint dysfunction was diagnosed only recently while I have been suffering for past 10 years or more. It would be good to share our experience and how are we coping up with it? Also is this is the right forum for SI Joint pain discussion or shall we join somewhere else?

SI joints can be affected by inflammation in the gut I have been told .... 😊

Has it affected you Marz? Any references?

Yes. I have Crohns. Had surgery on Right TFL and spinal surgery. Now struggling with Greater Trochanter Bursitis on the Left side.

Recently saw a Physio in London whilst visiting who commented on the connection.

Also we have more muscles than bones and LOW T3 affects muscles 😊

Was the spinal surgery successful Marz?

It was done in 2007 - so it depends on which day you ask me 😊😊

Once I learnt about the seriousness of Low B12 I began to think differently about my spinal issues and the damage both before and after the surgery for stenosis.

Terminal Ileum was removed some 43 years ago - where B12 is metabolised. Someone forgot to tell me I would need B12 treatment for life. 😣

Thank you Marz. Very disappointing but not surprising that they missed out on that crucial bit of info :-(

Hi FitBugs, what caused your SI to go out? I have find various info online regarding SI dysfunction but don't know if there is a relating forum to join.

Hi cc120,

Am not sure what exactly caused it, as it has been there for years now. Perhaps over-exercising or wrong posture caused it. I have a slight incline while standing and that may have caused it. Or could be my nasal deviated septum that caused it, as I have slept on one side (turned to my left) always for years.

But I am intrigued by your statement " creaked into place while stretching in bed". How on earth can a misplaced SIJ creak into place. That must be really a bold stretch. Need to learn the trick :-)

Cheers

Hi FitBugs, I was regularly using a back inversion table and also released frozen muscles on right buttocks by pushing something small and hard into them. Was in odd position as have two single matresses on double bed and they had parted up in the middle, so that my buttocks were higher than my back, and my head on pillow. I stretched an turned my top half toward the left, and felt a grinding in my lower back, continue to turn and that's what popped it back in the right grooves, as there are grooves on the two bones that interconnect.

SI's are often referred to as joints - but technically they are not. Gut issues can affect them I have been told - inflammation ?

It is a sort of joint in that it does allow for specific movement, synovial fluid lubricates the joint and allows for slight movement. I suppose inflammation can cause the joint to misalign.
