Police and government agencies can access your medical records via database back door even when you have opted out of Care.Data sharing.

They always have since the Data sharing came into force. All the Government agencies can access these. its wrong but how do you overthrow the powers that think they know best?

I honestly thought they required a warrant first. They no longer do, 'twould appear.

You could complain to the Office of the Information Commissioner. I have made a number of complaints about data handling, data protection, processing of data (about the nhs and my employer) which have been upheld. The OIC takes its remit very seriously and is by far the most professional regulatory authority I have ever dealt with.

OIC are well aware of it. What, if any, action the can or plan to take remains to be seen.

I of have thought there could be justice campaigners campaigning about it?

Does it mean if you are never arrested, it doesn't affect you personally? But still I don't agree with it!

For example if somebody with mental illness did a crime, in mitigation there'd be a report by a specialist, I guess the extent to which the person's mind set as having the mental illness contributed to him doing the offence... that's all for the benefit really, but this is a totally different situation.

We aren't hearing anything good about this data sharing are we!

Nope. It's incredibly ill thought through. The twittersphere is going ballastic.

I don`t understand why the government & police would want access to medical files, I mean, why should it be of any use to them knowing what illnesses & treatment you had say 40 years ago? that would hardly be relevant now.

I suspect my history (one visit) of 'anxiety' lasts a lifetime!

Never mind it was a dodgy nodule making me have hyper symptoms!
