A few weeks later, I feel really sick and horrible and am looking for alternatives to standard nhs meds. HELP!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeese
I have been told recently that I have a kidney... - Thyroid UK
I have been told recently that I have a kidney infection. Was given meds but they made me feel really bad so stopped taking them.
You need to go back to your GP, kidney infections must be treated properly as they can be serious, don't mess around with alternatives.
I've got an appointment on the 22nd but don't know how to ease the pain and discomfort til then. Cant take Ibuprofen, apparently, and paracetamol don't touch the pain. I'm tired and wish I could just sleep my way through this
I'm steadily losing weight again too. Really tired
I am not a medical expert - but I have read on my journey around the net that the kidneys and the thyroid are on the same meridian - or line of energy - in Eastern Medicine. I have learnt that the nodes on my kidneys match the nodes of my thyroid....hope you soon feel better....
Thanku for that info. Will do some more research. xxxx
I agree with hypohen. Do not mess about where kidneys are concerned and I think if your GP knew you had stopped the meds, because of side effects, he could have offered an alternative. Be aware that Ciprofloxacin inhibits absorption of Levothyroxine,( just in case you are on this.). I had a UTI two years ago and had to have four weeks of different antibiotics to sort it. Do get another antibiotic as soon as poss. A&E tonight if you feel really bad.
I wouldn't wait until the 22nd if you have an infection it needs to be sorted asap.
I'm gonna phone first thing on Monday. Thanku
I have only one kidney and have suffered severe kidney infections, one symptom of which is nausea. I repeat what has already been said: these cannot be dealt with by alternate medicine and can be life threatening. See you GO and take the meds!
I have suffered really badly over the past 6 years from being put on an antibiotic I should not have been given while on Levothyroxine. Somewhere on this site there is a list of ones which we should not take. Perhaps someone could point you in the right direction. Hope you soon feel better (hope we both do in fact). Wish you well, Janet.
