I seem to have blow up beyond anything I have e... - Thyroid UK
I seem to have blow up beyond anything I have ever felt, ankles hurt like heck, walking like someone twice my age! Levo now 100. Help me!!
I am also having big problems with ankle pain and joint pain + cramp - rotten I know so I do sympathise. I am currently on 50 Levo (started on this 14 months ago and not changed) but I have just found out that my Vit D is way too low and my folate and ferritine are also well down so I am starting on supplements in the hope that it may improve things. Have you had all the recommended tests (Vit D, B12 etc.)?
Hi Chezp
How long have you been on the thyroxine and what are your levels? I have Hashimotos - no thyroids at all but because I had a heart attack (I am a young 52) my endio can only move me up a dose every 8 weeks or so. When I went up to 75/100 I started to swell and my ankles hurt (still do) and I take water tablets when its really bad and then pee like an elephant for 3 hrs... deep joy.
The endio says it takes time and to be patient. I am drinking a LOT of water and have started the 5:2 diet which in this weather is not hard and I am determined to get back to normal...good luck- Kate
hi I just saw my dr abought my feet and ankles when I get out of bed in the mornings it is so painfull I cant walk ,my dr told me its nothing to do with taking my thyroid tablet it called policemans ankle but I asked for water tablets but he wont give me them , did your dr give you your water tablets ,thank you teon ,
policeman's ankle or planter fasciitis is common with thyroid disorders. There are lots or articles like this one if you search google:

If you have puffy/swollen ankles or feet this is a common symptom of hypothyroidism or under medication. Just a 25 mcg increase of my throxine sorted it for me.
Better to get your thyroid levels optimal for you than take water tablets.
Hope you feel better soon.
