Hi RedApple,I take T4 100mcg plus T3 20mcg first thing in the morning. I am however only 6 weeks into this regime. Hoping for another 20mcg T3 to be taken later in the day combined with total cessation of T4.

Regards,

Eccleston

Sorry more options needed, T4 and T3 both split twice a day at the moment ( although tried other options)

The poll facility is really too limited to include every possible scenario, but your comment is noted, thanks 😊

Although I have answered the question, I am still suffering debilitating symptoms regardless of the NHS guidelines saying that I am fully replaced.

Hi, I’m in exactly the same position as you. I’ve seen my GP about this a few times but just get told I’m on the correct dose!🙄🤷🏻‍♀️.

DandyButch profile image

I was originally put on levothyroxine, the standard treatment. I went from a working person, to losing my job, because of ill health, which became worse, the higher the dose of levothyroxine. Cut a very long story short, I am now on liothyronine only, following many visits and changes, by choice, of endocrinologist. I was improving, but the endocrinologist will not increase dose due to TSH and T3 results. So, stalemate. But, my GP just expects me to be 'well' and suggested I go to work. Is he kidding!!!!! I responded by telling him he has no idea how ill I have been and continue to be.

I take T4 and T3. T4 split 3 times a day and T3 split 4 times. Through trial and error this is what works best for me. No option to select splitting both T3 & T4 throughout the day. 💜

I take levothyroxine (T4) and liothyronine (T3) full dose of each through the night when I wake for the loo.

This is fairly new as I was splitting my T3, a couple of weeks in and going well so far.

I also take T3 and T4 in the morning a good hour before breakfast.

I take levo at night just before bed and t3 split 3 times a day.

I ticked when I wake in the night but I actually set an alarm for 4.30am every morning & take it then (rarely wake in the night but that was the nearest fit).

Bagienka profile image
Bagienka in reply toMona1304

Similar thing, I ticked immediately after waking but I also set an alarm for 5am to take it and go back to sleep. I don't wake up for toilet break and that could be at different times. I stick to the same time every day, unless I sleep through alarm...

I’ve always taken in the morning for 10 years on doctors orders due to stomach ulcer treatment changed to bedtime..didn’t work for very depressed and very tired so I’m back to mornings.

Beads profile image

I take full dose of T4 and T3 with an alarm set about an hour before my get up alarm.

There’s days that I sleep through this alarm and take it when I wake up, leaving as much time as I can until coffee/breakfast. I know in the long run the odd day of less than perfect T4 absorption won’t make much difference, just need to make sure it doesn’t become regular.

Thanks for the poll, I appreciate the limits set regarding answers.

I take my full T3 on waking and I was taking my full T4 just before bed. But this method with T4 I realised was keeping me awake at night. Now T4 is between 9pm and 9:45pm seems to be better sleep wise .

Take mine before bed and a couple of hours after any food or cups of tea.

Nothing worse than having to wait for breakfast or a coffee first thing.

Edit: I also take other meds in the morning so want to take them as far away from my Levo as possible.

You left mine out. I take liothyronine and levothyroxine all at once in the morning on an empty stomach. When I was on NDT only after initial start of splitting I ended up just one high dose in the morning. It has made no difference to me whether splitting or not.

Obviously I had to be different.

Levo taken at bed time and T3 first thing in morning on waking.

I did used to split my 10mcg T3 dose into 2, but tried it all at once and actually that seems to work better. 👍🤷‍♀️

Hopefully increasing T3 to 15mcg in the next few weeks.
