Good luck with that. Fingers crossed.
I’d be very interested to hear how you get on with this as I think my symptoms are similar to yours! Please let us know.
Hi CalRW how are you this morning. I went to my doctors yesterday and he has now put me on Linaclotide , along with mebeverine, and buscopan. I should use mebeverine for 3 wks then stop for a wk. Unless i have a flare up. Also to carry on with taking movicol . So we will see what happens .
I've been on Linaclotide for 3 years now and couldn't do without it. I still have to make sure I drink enough water and electrolytes especially before bed as it seems like my colon dehydrates over night. and of course lots of liquids in the morning when I take linaclotide. hope you get good results
I have IBS C and my NHS Dietician suggested trying Symprove. It's a probiotic with research and trials showing it can benefit sufferers of IBS C. It's a bit pricey but I have found I get less bloating and now only need to take, as advised from a member of the NHS Bladder & Bowel team, half/one senna tablet at night and one laxido sachet in the morning. I've been on this combination for 3 months now and hardly ever get bad constipation now. I can't believe how much I have suffered over the years, with little help or understanding from my doctors when all I needed was NHS Dietician & Bowel Team referrals to vastly improve my quality of life.....
Symprove doesn't work for everyone and is expensive (unfortunately it's not currently available on the NHS). I had a lot of bloating and some nausea for the first couple of weeks whilst my body got used to it. I now couldn't manage without it. My doctor wanted to put me on prucalopride, which is a drug of last resort for constipation, I refused and insisted on the referrals. Now I'm on a much more natural routine and feel much better for it.
I hope you find a way to ease your symptoms in the long term.
