Some of you may already know that I have been working on a website of all the research I have done into IBS. The concept of the website was hatched in 2019.
After the distraction of a couple of house moves, I have finally finished it! The link to it is below:
ibsresearcher.com
This will enable me to answer some posts with links to the website, rather than having to repeat information that many of you may have already seen.
It is a completely non-commercial and information only website. There is much detail, so if of interest, you might want to digest it in stages.
Happy reading!

Well done! I have always read your posts with interest as you appeared well researched plus my conditions are similar to your own. Thank you for producing this resource, I'm sure it will be very useful for everyone.
thx XJRS. That was so interesting. I have back issues too that can’t seem to be explained and I’m sure are related to bowel movements. It’s just nice knowing we aren’t all suffering alone. 😍
That's great news xjrs! Thank you for making the effort to share the fruits of your labour. I'm sure that it will prove to be a wonderful resource for many and I, for one, look forward to exploring your site 😊
You will find this interesting. Have not seen your website yet but have had ibs most of my adult life. Was on the FODMAPDIET for many years with not much difference in symptoms. Tried lots of OTC and prescription meds. Even hypnotherapy. All only small effects each time.
Also 20 years of migraines. Lots of acute prescription meds.
Now autoimmune ataxia (like coeliac disease) gluten and dairy free and grain free and non ultra processed foods free.
A very restrictive diet but I am now enjoying the best health I have ever had. Apart from neurological damage.
Leaky gut and high inflammatory foods have led to this autoimmune condition.
The point I want to make here is it was gluten all the time.
So please if you are getting the word out there about ibs consider gluten and inflammation too.
For many people with IBS it is the FODMAPs in wheat that cause issues. However, I do mention something called non-celiac gluten sensitivity:
some IBS suffers may have non-celiac gluten sensitivity. In a study non-celiac gluten sensitivity was related to elevated levels of anti-gliadin IgG antibodies and human leukocyte antigen DQ2 (HLA-DQ2) gene expression. In fact, those who tested positive for HLA-DQ2/8 were found to have heightened intestinal permeability, and frequency of gastrointestinal movements with gluten consumption.
So it looks like this specific thing might have a genetic basis.
Glad you have covered it. I just want to get awareness out there of the conditions ibs can lead to. Hope this is on ibs network website too. Medical professionals in my experience are pretty hopeless at thinking outside of the box. Autoimmune conditions are on the increase and it is up to us to arm ourselves with as much knowledge and information so we can question doctors opinions. We have got to get digestion right, this I feel is the root cause of many conditions. Ataxia is just one of them. It is life changing! Yes there is a genetic involvement but many of us carry this gene and it can so easy go down this slippery slope from ibs. Thank you.
