I am asking on behalf of my sister she has been suffering with pain in the area under her left eye since 2019. It just started with no reason. It had also gone down that side of her nose.
She takes paracetamol regularly to dull the pain.
She had previously been to the doctors who couldn't help. So paid over £600 to a private doctor for a mri scan who also couldn't help.
She is waiting for another nhs appointment, the last one got cancelled and thinks this one will probably be cancelled.
Wonder if anyone else suffers with this pain.

Hi, it could be TMJD. I have had IBS for almost forty years. Over the years I had what I called referred pain, first in my legs and then in my arms. I now have pain all over my body which I now believe is fibromyalgia and in the last few years I have developed facial pain which I believe is TMJD. You may want to look into these. Just Google them, there is a lot of information about them out there. Feel free to get back to me if you want. Maureen.
Thanks Maureen , am not sure what is TMJD . So sorry you are suffering all this pain. I have ibs but my sister who has this pain does not as far as I know.
I had these pains though a few years ago and was put on steroids which stopped the pain. The condultant said my inflammation marker was not high so came off them and it seemed ok. So not sure it was fibromyalba.
It is possible that she has a low grade chronic sinus infection. I manage mine with daily Neilmed sinus wash, widely available at Boots and Amazon. Worth a try?
I've had severe sinus pain for years. Had various procedures by the NHS but nothing worked. Eventually went to see a dietician and herbalist out of desperation. To cut a long story short it turned out the cause was an intolerance to dairy products especially cows products. I've met one other person that suffers the same and has cut out dairy to good effect. Sure it must be more widespread. Won't hurt her to give it a try.
Hi this may be totally daft suggestion but I get pain in right eye and often down nose - sometimes into jaw and down body. I grind my teeth at night and wear a guard but still get it badly some days. Do you know whether it’s worse in the morning? Mine is after night of gnashing my teeth in my sleep! Of course grinding also related to TMJD. A trip to dentist may help if she hasn’t already tried that.
Hi, I get really bad sinus pain which causes migraines if I eat too much gluten or dairy. I did an elimination diet and the sinus issue cleared up completely. I can tolerate a little of each now but I know if I eat too much I will have a blocked sinus the next day for about 24 hours x
I had something similar but with constant runny nose for 2 weeks. Went to GP who prescribed Amoxicillin antibiotics which cleared it up. I did steam inhalation too. Think it was sinusitis.
Since 2019- definitely worth getting it checked out. Can you get a second opinion? Could be something else. Hope it’s get sorted soon!
