Hi,

It did not take long to recover at all. I had the day after booked off work then went straight back to work the day after.

Thankyou..

He is having off on colonscopy day, and day after that day.

Is there any side effects of colonscopy? I know every person is different, i read that some people feel uncomfortable for some days.

Thankyou again for reply😄

I recovered quite quickly, I had a little bit of tummy pain/bloating for a few hours after but it wasn’t too bad and went quite quickly. I must say the laxative drink I had the day before was the worst part of the whole process! Hope it all goes well!

So true. The Colonoscopy itself is nothing however the prep is bad! My doctor's secretary made a mistake and had me booked for an office visit instead of the procedure however since I was prepped the Gastroenterology Group I see had someone else do the procedure. They would " never have a prepped person not taken care of" Nice. I am in the US.

Hi, I was advised to take the day off after. My hospital booklet said not to work, drive or be left alone for 24 hours following the procedure but that was because I had a sedative. You can have some bloating following it but that goes down fairly quickly. I actually didn’t feel too bad the day after just maybe a bit tired, and I was tired that night after it. Hope this helps!

There is nothing to worry about when it comes to colonoscopy. It's a very common procedure that's performed multiple times a day

I would recommend taking the day off before (prep day) and maybe the day of. The day before because you need to be close to a washroom. The stuff you get to clean out your bowel makes you go ALOT.

The day of; usually varies person to person. In my case I was up and alert after my procedure. They kept me in the recovery area for 1 hr after the procedure but after that I returned to my normal daily routine.

Just ask the doctor or technician performing the colonoscopy to absorb as much gas as possible after. This reduces the bloated and gassy feeling.

Lastly, I assure you, your husband is going to love the drugs he will receive for sedation. Maybe he'd want more after lol

No need to stress until you know. Even then, there is no need to stress because now you know and can receive the required treatment.

If he is prepped well and they can see polyps they will remove them and have them biopsied.

Hi

My 12yo son just had a colonoscopy, endoscopy and biopsies done right before Christmas. He had it done in the morning and got home in the afternoon, by the next again day he was back to playing.

Right after the procedure he had a little discomfort in his throat, a bit of bloating & excess gas and sleepiness from the sedative but that all wore off fairly quickly.

Hope all goes well for your husband.

I've had a few. If it's routine it's pretty straight forward some mild wind bloating after. If it's for a procedure and taking a lot longer the discomfort could be worse as you're being pumped with gas that eventually you have to get out. He will be fine, recovery is fairly quick.

I had one recently. Didn't need to rest. Not pleasant but didn't last too long!!!

I had one done and it didn't affect me at all. I was back to normal straight away. Make sure he takes the laxative medicine a couple of hours earlier than told as it takes at least 4 hours to go through. He will be in the loo pretty much for that length of time.

I had just the day of the procedure i was back in work the next morning. I walked home after the procedure. I didn’t have anything to make me sleepy as i have apnea and they would not give me anything but gas and air

I think Health Unlocked is so helpful. There is a lot of support from people all over the world and that in itself is terrific!

Hi all,

Yesterday my husbands colonscopy went well, the doctor report that there is a patches of inflamation in terminal ileum, IC valve, and some degree of narrowing in distal ileum. Entire colon was normall including rectum.

Biospies are taken and i think doc will get back to us once the lab results are ready withing 4-6 weeks..

Nothing followup instructions are givern till the time.

Thankyou all for support and care, really appreciate this forum🙌🏻.
