I'm new to ibs and the many, many things that can effect this condition. My ibs is most likely stress related, developing after a bout of gastroenteritis and probably linked to having had a very small baby at the time.
Anyway I just wondered if anyone else experiences catch 22 situations. My ibs wakes me with diarrhoea, you can set a clock by it, at 4am. this obviously makes me tired and tiredness then makes the ibs worse. Anyone else get this cycle and can break it?

Have you tried looking at your diet and tried eliminating certain foods from it? I know for sure I cannot eat raw carrots, raw or cooked onions and have to be careful eating other foods like broccoli just to name a few.
Hello - I can sympathize! my digestion improved immensely when I went on a low fodmap diet (especially eliminating gluten, onions and garlic though the specific triggers can be different for everyone). It can help with reducing symptoms including those that annoyingly occur in the middle of the night. I hope this helps!
