keep a journal. it's hard i know. we're all different but can learn from each other.

Read all the FODMAPs-related posts on this site, you'll find all sorts of hints and tips.

Thank you. Have any of you followed an elimination diet?

Yes, I've been doing FODMAPs for 7 months now and, with few tweaks here and there, it works extremely well for me - in fact it turned my life around. Sometimes I feel so normal that I think I might be 'cured' only to discover that, after experimenting with eating all the wrong things, I'm definitely not! However, it's a great management plan.

Probably the most important thing to do is to read ingredients' lists on EVERYTHING very carefully and avoid processed food wherever possible - you'd be surprised at what gets put into it!

Hope all goes well.

Thank you for your encouragement. For everyone's interest - there is a book coming out in August on the Low Fodmap Diet - details on Amazon.

Contrary to what people may think - the Fodmap diet is not availble through dieticians everywhere in the UK. I've had to leave Wales and go to England for help!

Thanks for the tip about the August book release. At the moment, the best book available is by Patsy Catsos, 'IBS - Free At Last', but as she's American, so are the foods she talks about!

The diet isn't available through Scottish dietitians either apparently and, in my local hospital in Winchester, only one of a team of 7 has been trained in it. The NHS info booklets aren't that good either as they advise buying gluten-free products which often contain ingredients which are not IBS/FODMAP friendly.
