my husband had three quarters of his liver removed l5th May 2012 due to primary cancer. He had no heart, blood pressure or any help issues a very healthy man his age is 70yrs. all clear oct ct scan, scan done two weeks ago showed two spots on liver waiting date to have mri scan. would it help for him to go on alkaline diet and take milk thistle? where can we get diet advice please.- very concerned

There is no evidence that the alkaline diet has any therapeutic value in preventing cancers and it does entail cutting a lot of different foods which would make his diet less appealing, especially if he struggles with appetite anyway. As far as taking milk thistle, is your husband receiving any treatment at present? some supplements are known to have an effect on conventional medicines and this should be discussed with the doctors before starting.
