For those who have had your treatment done, do you still feel 'short of breath' or 'coughing' sometimes or its totally gone?

Although after 8 months of treatment my x-ray (and cultures) showed that my lungs are clean of TB, I still felt some shortness of breath and had some coughing, which felt different that TB cough.

Turns out, I had GERD (reflux disease), which sometimes causes these symptoms too.

It's hard to say exactly what is wrong in your situation, but even cured TB may leave unpleasant after effects, which may subside over time.

I had treatment for pulmonary TB six years ago now. I still cough & have small cavities that seem to still produce sputum. It took a while to adjust to my breathing, feeling each breath, more effort to breathe more conscious of breathing than before. I still find I get breathless but have tried to keep as fit as possible and moved out of London to the fresh sea air on the coast.

I still have aches and feel breathless slightly, but it was only slightly before. But at nearly 5 weeks of treatment, I was hoping any aches in my lungs would have all disappeared by now.

Its been 4 years since I was diagnosed with TB. Took a full 6 months treatment with isoniazid and rifampicin tablets i.e AKT 4,3,2 and finally simple AKT. Though my doctor said that I have fully recovered and all my tests approved of it also. But even after 4 years I feel pain in my right lung which was affected by TB. The right side of my upper body is suppressed as compared to the normal upper left body (chest). The right shoulder has been tilted a bit when I notice it in the mirror. Is anyone else’s facing the same problem? Kindly share.

Also the coughing gets real bad when I wake up every morning. I feel breathless in morning but during the day it is all fine. I am diagnosed with sinusitis (pinched nose) as well so coughing is there. At times I get very confused about getting the TB back because of the coughing, as its first sign but all my medical tests are normal.

Since I had this pinched nose issue from childhood and there was a coughing issue since many years so I didn’t notice that I had contacted TB when I was 25 years old. The sputum test couldn’t detect it but I was suffering from fever above 104 degrees fahrenheit. So when I got my digital X-ray done, then the doctor noticed that my right lung was affected by TB.

P.S - height -5’10”

Weight- 70 kgs

Blood tests - normal

LFT, RFT - normal

I do cycling, gym, walk@2-3 kms daily.
