Will period come back and body ever make estrogen again?

I've had anorexia for over 25 years. I've had maybe five to eight. My entire life and I've not had any in over 20 years. For the majority of my life I've been underweight and not at a healthy enough weight to menstruate. I got blood work done and found out that I am not making any estrogen. Will my body ever make estrogen again if I get to a healthy weight for my height? And will my period ever come back? I'm fearful that bc I'm so chronic of an anorexic that my body won't give it back and that my hormones won't ever turn back on again...does anyone know?

I have no idea if your body can do so after all this time. I would suggest that you get a bone density scan done. You may need calcium and vitamin d supplements as you haven't had a period for so long. The only thing I do know is that you need to start nourishing your body. Watch / read Tabitha Farrar and listen to Recovery Warriors podcasts. They have lots of stuff to read too that might help you. Good luck. It's never too late to recover.

Where do I watch that? I get DEXA scans every 2 yrs and am about to start Evenity for my bones. I was hoping somebody here could tell me of anybody that they've heard of or if they themselves have known of anybody with years of anorexia that recovered after all these years and their periods actually came back and their body produced estrogen again?

Tabitha Farrar is on youtube and has a website (just type her name into google). The All In podcast focuses specifically on period recovery.
