New here- Living in a larger body with anorexia and chronic illness

Hey all,

I'm brand new to HealthUnlocked. I'm looking for a community of people in a similar situation as me for support!

I'm 30 years old and in a larger body (I personally identify as "Fat" for social justice reasons. I use it as a neutral descriptor) and have struggled with anorexia for the past 20 years. I was prescribed dieting starting at the age of 10 (although my food was already being restricted by age 7 by my family). I started my recovery about 5 years ago. I am also dealing with a long list of chronic illnesses (including PCOS, diabetes, fatty liver, sleep apnea, etc) and have experienced my fair share of medical abuse and trauma.

I'm finding it almost impossible to find support and health care at the intersection of these three (fat, chronically ill and with an ED). Everything is triggering or invalidates my life experiences.

Anyone have any advice or just some solidarity to offer? It's so painful to feel so alone.

Thank you in advance! I hope everyone has at least one moment of nourishment today. ❤️

Hi optimisticgecko24 my daughter had anorexia she no longer has it but it has left her with a messed endocrine system as it seems to have yours , my daughter went vegan whilst anorexic and developed hypothyroidism due to lack of iodine, my advice is be prepared for slow progress otherwise you will dissapointed, it seems you struggle with accepting weight gain - my daughter is the same. Do you have type 2 diabetes? An alkaline diet or even just an alkaline smoothie at breakfast is beneficial and being alkaline is slimming I make a cucumber and honeydew melon smoothie. If you are being left to fend for yourself then doing research and learning about your conditions and how to treat them by nutrition can be empowering .
