I first posted on here back in February when my husband ended up in ICU with a severe gastric bleed and ended up getting an emergency TIPSS procedure. He ended up back in hospital the next day after being released from hospital after 2 weeks as took another bleed and had a further blood transfusion.

cirrhosis and edema / ascites
My partner diagnosed 22.12.21 with alcoholic cirrhosis stopped drinking on that date. Since then has been having 3 weekly drains and wasn't able to have diuretics due to low sodium. Was hospitalised last Friday due to extreme edema in feet, legs and scrotum. Has been on IV diuretics as sodium now OK

What happens to ascites post TIPSS procedure?
Hi I have a question to any members who have had a TIPS shunt: what happens to ascites after the procedure? Father in law is being referred for assessment, as he has been having fortnightly drains for refractory ascites for many months. I think the shunt redirects fluid to renal system so does that mean

Is this the end of life?
Please help... my husband was diagnosed with hemochromatosis when he was 60. Long story short,, he has since had TIPSS procedure 4 years ago which stopped his variceal bleeding but left him with hepatic encephalopathy. I cared for him at home for 3 and half years but went into nursing care 6 months ago

Tipss blocked
Hi all I have Budd chiari syndrome, which I was diagnosed with almost 6 years go. They performed an emergency tipss procedure at that time. I went into hospital yesterday to have it widened/stretched. They performed the operation but couldn’t perform the procedure as they couldn’t pass anything through

Feeling Delirious March 22, 2016 9:55 - 11:50 P.M.
After the intense amount of pressure that built up in my head throughout my life was involuntarily and rapidly drained through my
ventriculoperitoneal
shunt
(a tube that helps excessive cerebrospinal fluid to be drained), I've had health issues remain but a change in my perspective on life.
